Black Tree Trunk Wood
Black Tree Trunk Wood, Dark elegance-tree-like wood in blackish-purple for mysterious, dramatic layouts with full tree-trunk form and roots-ideal for creating captivating, moody scapes that add bold contrast and intrigue to any habitat.
Black Tree Trunk Wood brings bold character and visual drama to your scapes. With its deep blackish-purple coloration and complete tree-trunk shape with roots, this unique wood creates layouts rich in contrast and emotion-perfect for mysterious, elegant, or moody themes.
Its rare coloration sets it apart from conventional driftwood, while the detailed root and trunk structure makes it a strong focal point or structural anchor in forest-like compositions. Whether in an aquarium, paludarium, or terrarium, Black Tree Trunk Wood adds depth, presence, and atmosphere.
Like most natural woods, it releases tannins during the first few weeks, which can tint the water a warm brown hue. This natural process can be minimized through proper curing or the use of activated carbon in your filter.
The WIO difference: Every piece is authentic, untreated, and chosen for its sculptural presence and rare color-adding unmatched style to your layout.

- Basic Curing (for new setups or light loads):
- Soak in warm water for 24 hours.
- Rinse thoroughly before adding. - Intensive Curing (for mature aquariums with livestock):
- Boil for 30–60 minutes to reduce tannin release.
- Follow by soaking in clean water, changing daily, until water clears. - Gradual Introduction: Start with a single piece if concerned about water chemistry changes.
Initial Buoyancy
- Wood may float at first. Soak for up to a month or secure in place using rocks, anchors, or WIO’s ScapeGlue Kitsuntil fully waterlogged.

- Natural variation in shape, size, and color is part of its beauty-each piece is one of a kind.
Water Monitoring
- Tannins released during the early phase may tint the water a cognac hue.
- Maintain kH ≥ 3 for buffering and pH stability.
- Test pH, kH, and gH weekly during the first few weeks.
- Use partial water changes and activated carbon as needed to control water color.
- Biofilm or saprolegnia may appear early-this is a harmless, natural phase. Remove manually if desired; it will resolve naturally.
