Elkhorn Fern
The Elkhorn Fern, or Platycerium bifurcatum 'Netherlands', is a unique, antler-shaped fern that brings an exotic touch to your terrarium or paludarium.
Platycerium bifurcatum 'Netherlands', commonly known as the Elkhorn Fern, is an evergreen fern cherished for its unique, antler-like fronds. This cultivar, originally from Australia and New Guinea, is more compact than the species, making it an excellent choice for terrariums or paludariums. The Elkhorn Fern thrives in humid, warm environments and requires bright, indirect light. Its fronds are divided into two types: the sterile ones that grow flat against the surface it's growing on, and the fertile, antler-like ones that project outward, providing an intriguing visual display.
- Plant Type: Fern
- Growth Habit: Slow-growing, spreading
- Leaf Colour: Green
- Light Requirements: Prefers bright, indirect light
- Watering: Prefers evenly moist soil; do not allow to dry out completely
- Humidity: High
