• Curing: To prepare the wood for your aquarium, it's recommended to cure it beforehand. This process helps to saturate the wood with water and remove excess tannins, which can sometimes cloud the water or affect its parameters.
  There are two ways to cure Wood Riverbed:
  -Boiling: Boil the wood pieces for about 20 minutes. This is usually enough to saturate the wood and speed up the release of tannins.
  -Soaking: Alternatively, you can submerge the wood in warm water for 24-72 hours. Change the water every day to help remove the tannins.
  Even after curing, it's crucial to closely monitor your water parameters for the following days or weeks, especially pH. It's best to wait until the water parameters are stable before introducing any fish or shrimp into the aquarium.
   
• Introduction in an Established Tank: If the aquarium already contains fish and shrimp, it is essential to introduce the organic material gradually, distributing it over several days or even weeks. This is to ensure that the water chemistry remains stable, especially in aquariums with low kH and gH levels, which are more vulnerable to fluctuations.
• Water Chemistry Monitoring: It's important to monitor your water parameters regularly, especially after introducing Wood Riverbed to your aquarium. This is because the wood releases tannins and other organic compounds, which can affect water chemistry, particularly pH.
• Low water Hardness: Aquariums with low hardness (gH and kH) are more sensitive to these changes, as they lack the natural buffering capacity to resist fluctuations in pH. Therefore, it's crucial to monitor pH levels closely in such aquariums and take corrective measures if needed, such as using a buffering substrate or performing water changes with RO (reverse osmosis) or deionized water. By regularly monitoring your water parameters, you can ensure a stable and healthy environment for your aquatic life.
• Placement: Carefully place the Wood Riverbed pieces in the desired locations within your aquarium, paludarium, or terrarium. Distribute the wood pieces around the substrate, mimicking the natural patterns found in forests and rivers. Use a mix of different-sized wood pieces to create a varied and dynamic environment.
• Adjustment and Fine-Tuning: Observe the overall appearance of your scape and make any necessary adjustments to the placement of the wood accents. Fine-tune the arrangement to ensure the accents blend seamlessly with the existing substrate and provide the desired level of detail and realism.
• Maintenance: Regularly check the wood pieces for any buildup of debris and remove as needed. During maintenance, you may need to reposition or add more accents to maintain the desired appearance.
