Seat the most timeworn piece with a slight forward lean to set motion, then echo its break lines with supporting stones to “step” the terrain, buttresses, shelves, and fallen blocks that guide the eye and create pockets for planting. Half-bury a few pieces to mimic natural sorting so the layout feels discovered, not arranged.
